Aim of the study was to assess the effect of breast feeding versus formula feeding on surgical wound healing in infants during the first six months of age .Subjects and Methods : Research design :Descriptive comparative. Setting: The Pediatric surgical Unit at the surgery hospital and out Pediatric surgical clinic at Zagazig University hospital. Subjects: sample comprised 90 infants (45study and 45 controls) .Tools of data collection: Two tools were used: questionnaire interview sheet and Observation sheet for the infant's wounds. Results: I t revealed that :In breastfed infants boys were 73.3 ,while 26.7 were girls .Also in the formula fed infants boys were 75.6 ,while 24.4 were girls .As general statistically significant difference was found between physical assessment and type of feeding as there was 46.7 of infants had rapid respiration in artificial feeding while 11.1in breast feeding, also occurrence of wound healing during the first ,second and third visits was 46.7 ,73.3 ,93.3 in breast fed infants while 31.1 ,20.0 ,57.8 in formula feeding .Conclusion: Breast fed infants had rapid wound healing ,less wound infection and receiving more number of daily feeds .Recommendation: Health educational classroom to encourage mothers during admission period at hospital to maintain exclusive breast feeding until six months of infant age.}, keywords = {Key words: Infants, breast feeding, formula feeding,Wound healing}, url = {https://znj.journals.ekb.eg/article_74403.html}, eprint = {https://znj.journals.ekb.eg/article_74403_1ed3fe5a063259c109929d46a4448152.pdf} } @article { author = {Salem, Asmaa and EL-Dakhakhny, Amal and Mohamed, Samah}, title = {Effect of an Educational Training Program on Nurses' Pain Assessment at Zagazig University Pediatrics Hospital}, journal = {Zagazig Nursing Journal}, volume = {15}, number = {1}, pages = {19-33}, year = {2019}, publisher = {Zagazig University; Faculty of Nursing}, issn = {2090-6110}, eissn = {}, doi = {10.21608/znj.2019.74404}, abstract = {Abstract Background: Pain refers to an unpleasant, distressful and uncomfortable feeling, and it is the most frequent nursing diagnosis and the more common problem for which patients in the clinical setting seek help. Aim of the study: the study aimed to evaluate the effect of an educational training program on nurse's pain assessment. Subjects &method: Research design: A quasi experimental design was used in the present study. Subjects: The subjects of this study included 65 nurses. Setting: The study was conducted at different pediatrics units including PICU, dialysis, general pediatric unit, cardiology and hematology and oncology units at Zagazig University pediatric Hospital. Tools for data collection: Two tools were used Tool one was a structured interview questionnaire sheet to assess nurse's knowledge Tool two was an observational checklist for nurse's practice. An educational program was developed to educate the studied nurses about pain assessment scales. Results: revealed that the studied nurses' knowledge (100 %after vs. 60 % before) and practices had been improved significantly after implementation of the educational program either immediately or 2 months later than before the program. Conclusion: the educational program had improved the studied nurses' knowledge and practice about pain assessment. Low quality of care can cause permanent damage to the airways for this reason. Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to identify the effect of an educational training program on quality of nursing care provided to children having asthma. Subjects and methods: Research design: A quasi- experimental design was used in the study. Setting: The study was conducted at outpatient Pediatric chest clinic and pediatric inpatient chest unit at Zagazig University Hospital, outpatient chest clinic at Chest Hospital and pediatrics unit at El-Ahrar Hospital. Subjects: A convenient sample of 50 nurses who provided direct care to children having asthma. Two tools were developed. Tools of data collection: a Tool one was structured interview questionnaire sheet and tool two was an observational checklist. An educational training program was developed to educate the studied nurses about care provided to children having asthma. Results: indicated that the studied nurses' practice had been improved significantly after implementation (high quality of care was 92% posttest Vs 2% pretest) of the educational training program. Conclusion: it was concluded that the educational health program improved the quality of care that was provided to children having bronchial asthma. Aim of the study: was to evaluate the effect of implementing nursing intervention program on nurses' knowledge and practice regarding children undergoing blood transfusion. Subjects and Methods: Research design: A quasi-experimental study design was adopted to carry out this study. Setting: The study was conducted at Pediatric Medicine Departments at Benha University Hospital. Subjects: A convenient sample of fifty nurses who were providing direct nursing care to children. Tools of data collection: Two tools were used in the present study. A structured interviewing questionnaire to explore nurses' personal data and their knowledge regarding blood transfusion for children and observational checklist to evaluate the actual nurses' practice towards caring for children and educational training program to train nurses related to blood transfusion. Results: The present study revealed that, the mean age of nurses was 28.52± 5.06 years and more than half of them weren't attending training courses related to blood transfusion. There were highly statistical significant differences(P<0.001) concerning nurses' knowledge and practice pre/ post implementation and follow up phases of the training program regarding blood transfusion and there was a positive correlation between total nurses' knowledge and practice regarding blood transfusion immediately after post implementation of the training program ( r = 0.539 & p < 0.001). Conclusion: Nurses' total knowledge and practice scores regarding blood transfusion for children were improved post implementation of implementing nursing intervention program than pre- program implementation.
