Extent of computer usage in public and private sectors had been greatly increased
in recent decades carrying the risk of several health hazards. Aim of the study: To evaluate
the effectiveness of educational training program about repetitive strain injury on computer
users’ employees at Damanhour University. Subjects & Methods: Research design: The
study was carried out through interventional study design. Setting: The study was conducted
at the computer workstations of the Main Administrative University Building of Damanhour
University. Subjects: Computer users’ employees from the previously mentioned setting were
included in the study; the total sample was 200 employees. Tools of data collection: Two
tools were used for data collection: 1) A structured interview schedule, 2) Observation
checklist. Results: The majority of the studied sample did not complaint from body ache
preceding being computer users. More than three quarters (83.0%) of them were working on
computer from 6 to less than 10 hours daily. Pre-program implementation, only 9.9% of them
had correct knowledge about risk-free practices’ scored as good practices, this increased to
38.9% post-implementation. The overall of computer users’ observed practices were
improved post- program implementation. Conclusion: The study concluded that postimplementation
of the educational program, enhancement on computer users’ knowledge,
practices, and health status were noticeable. Recommendations: The study recommended
that computer users should be certified for harmless practices and accomplishing compulsory
on work education program.Zagazig University; Faculty of NursingZagazig Nursing Journal2090-611011220150701Impact of a health education intervention program about breast selfexamination on female employees at Damanhour University21413923010.12816/0029168ENReem BassiounyEL-LassyLecturer of Community Health Nursing-Faculty of Nursing- Damanhour UniversityAbeer Abd El AzizMadianLecturer of Community Health Nursing-Faculty of Nursing- Damanhour UniversityJournal Article20190706Background: Breast cancer is a major health concern and remains the most common
malignancy in women worldwide comprising 16% of all female cancers. It
exerts a significant burden on the individual and community. Arthritis care offers selfmanagement
training courses. It includes keeping active, looking after the joints, using heated
pads, using a cold pack, complementary therapies and massage. Aim of the study: was to
examine the effect of self-management and home remedy on symptoms of rheumatoid
arthritis among elderly clients. Subjects & Methods: Research design: A quasiexperimental
design with pre and posttest was adopted. Setting: This study was carried out
at the outpatient clinics in comprehensive medical center and university hospital in Shebin
Elkom City, Menoufia Governorate, Egypt. Subjects: A total of 90 elderly clients recruited
from outpatient clinics. Tools of data collection: A Structured interviewing questionnaire and
Affected and non-affected joints pain assessment sheet. Results: The mean age of the
participants was 66.8 years old. Fifty percent of them had a family history of arthritis. There
were a significant reduction of joints swelling, redness, duration of stiffness, and feeling of
fatigue from pre to post test (p < 0.05*). Majority of the elderly clients felt better with rest, splint,
hot compresses and massage with ointments. The home remedy affected positively on the
pulse, systolic and diastolic blood pressure besides reducing their joints pain and swelling.
Conclusion: The present study concluded that after intervention elderly clients who used
self-management measures had a significant reduction of rheumatoid arthritis joints pain,
swelling, redness, and stiffness. Additionally, home remedy and self-management affected
positively on pulse and blood pressure of the clients besides reducing their arthritis pain.
Recommendations: Encourage the elderly clients to use the self-management measures to
reduce RA joints pain. Aim of the study: was to investigate the relationship < br />between structural empowerment, magnet hospital characteristics and patient safety climate
among nurses. Subjects & methods: Research design: A descriptive design was used.
Setting: the study was conducted at the medical and surgical intensive care units in Zagazig
University Hospitals. Results: Reveals that positive
relationships were found not only between structural empowerment and magnet hospital
characteristics but also between these variables and perception of patient safety climate
within the units Conclusion: The results of the study revealed that positive relationships were
found; not only between structural empowerment and magnet hospital characteristics but also
between these variables and perceptions of patients' safety climate among nurses.
Recommendations: Nurses must be professionally empowered through formal
organizational structures in ways that recognize nurses professionally beyond their ability to
simply make clinical decisions, the nurse managers will have to focus less on control and
more on the coordination, integration, and facilitation of nurses' work. This can be
accomplished by providing access to information, resources, and support that are needed to
achieve professional and organizational goals. Patient safety culture must be an integral part
of the orientation and ongoing on job educational activities of staff development.Zagazig University; Faculty of NursingZagazig Nursing Journal2090-611011220150701Promoting Knowledge and Safety Measures Practice towards Occupational Hazards among Critical Care Nurses Working Long Shifts: The Effect of an Intervention Study2332523970610.12816/0029203ENAbeer MohamedFakhryMaster degree - Lt. Research Design: A quasi-experimental, repeated measures design with a one-group < br />Pretest/posttest was selected to test participants at 3 pre-specified time points (initial,
immediately after training, and at 3months later after training). Setting: The study was
conducted in a Military hospital. Subject: A purposive sample consisted of (56) critical care
nurses Working long shifts who accepted to participate in the research and met the inclusion
criteria was included in the study. Tools of data collection: Three tools were designed
specifically to collect data of the present study ,the first tool composed of three main parts
of self-administered questionnaire as follows: 1) demographic characteristics data, 2)
educational needs assessment, 3) knowledge test (pre / post-test), second tool titiled Safety
measures practices observational checklist and third tool titiled Participants' reactions
questionnaire Results: A significant improvement in the studied participants’ total knowledge
and safety measures practice towards occupational hazards score was found in the post
educational intervention phases both immediate post intervention and follow up after three
months later in comparison to the pre- educational intervention. Conclusion: The
intervention tested in this study shows promise of being an effective approach to promot
knowledge and safety measures practice towards occupational hazards among critical care
nurses ' working long shifts. Recommendation: Mandatory regular educational intervention
must be planned to overcome the weak points of knowledge and safety measures practice
regarding all occupational hazards of critical care nurses, based on their needs, expectation.
